I decided I have done quite a few things out of my comfort zone over the past year or so and thought I would pull a list together to see if there are fifty things…
I am going to add something to this blog every few days until I am 50 early October and once all the kickstarter books have been received I will share the full 50 things list here. One of the things was to become a freelancer and I am now on day one of this adventure and working out what shape and direction this will take.

- Interviewed Jim Bob (first person I interviewed, so I chose the person who was the reason I started writing 35 years ago and did this in front of 100 people in Chatham Library – Thanks to Barry and Sam Fentiman Hall, Medway River Lit and Marc Ollington for helping with this.

4. Interviewed musicians and artists on Zoom
Starting with Paul Linehan from The Frank and Walters. I would not have continued with this series had Paul not been so warm and chatty, honest and open. We had the most fun tangents to donkeys and hugs and he told me it was great to talk to someone on the same level, creatively. I decided maybe this fan/creative to musician chat seemed to work and so far have added Jim Bob (Carter USM), James Atkin (EMF), Ian Prowse (Amsterdam and Pele) and Cal Artist (Stourbridge artist) to the series. I have another 4 interviews planned soon and an exciting possible wish list.
5. Radio editing – brand new skill and steep learning curve – The first interviews took 40-50 hours, I reckon. I have now learnt to stop being quite so precious, ways Audacity can mess it all up if I don’t check along the way and I know what uhms, ahh and y’knows look like in a soundwave now too. The most recent one took me 15 hours to plot questions, record, listen back through twice and then radio edit down several times. Fun Chat, and a quite a bit of giggling on both sides here, we were more limited on time which meant it maybe feels a bit more focused than the first one.

Jim chat about all the stuff he has done since Carter as that is most of his life, Carter are mentioned a few times too but chat about lyrics book, Frank books and solo and more recent songs and albums.
Ian Prowse podcast:
This one feels the most like two mates down the pub having a chat and, to be honest, Prowsey is the person who I have met the most in real life – through Monday club, Christmas Knees Up and merch desk chat. Turned out really well. Chat was wide – as so many different parts of Prowsey career to cover and chat about making a living in music and difficulties with that.
